Renewal
Question to all. We know that Salon is not allowing any new blogs. For those who would like to continue there - Does anyone know whether they plan on allowing people to renew once their subscription runs out? I suspect not, but would like a definitive answer.

I don't know whether people will be able to renew, but I'm not going to. Why renew your lease in a neighborhood where they've turned off the street lights and stopped delivering mail?
As I think I've mentioned here, I renewed in December. I don't know if their death-spiral announcement came before or after my renewal.
It came at the first of February, Phil. In the very public forum of Scott Rosenberg's blog, which I guess we're all supposed to be reading to keep up with the latest news. Which is funny, since the majority of active Salon bloggers probably don't even remember back to when he was active in the community.
BTW, I invited him to stop by here. We'll see about that...
Weird, I'm an active Salon member, but haven't heard anything about that. You'd think they would email their members?!? Guess i'd better hustle my butt and get fully joined up over here to the new neighborhood.
By the way, can someone give me the address of Scott Rosenberg's blog? I'd like to go there and hear what Salon has to say. Thanks.
Willow, you can find the announcement here:

I just renewed three days before Rosenberg's announcement. Today I ran out of space on the Salon server and had to buy another 50MB. Salon Blogs doesn't move fast enought to do anything this precipitously. I suspect I will stay with Radio Userland even if Salon switches, unless someone can suggest a way to migrate all my content so all the google links remain intact. But no matter what, I'd like to see whether we can create a community including ex-Sloggers that will withstand migrations to different tools.
