Our New Clubhouse
Thanks, Rayne, for setting this up. I think we can have some fun here. If our content and energy reach a really compelling level, maybe Salon will buy us!
Hey, a Radio question: Does any of you know if the text of our posts resides anywhere on the client side, or is it all on the server? All I can find on my client are links. The reason I ask is, I'm feeling like I ought to save at least the posts I like somewhere safe in case the Salon server is suddenly taken offline.
What're you all doing with your Saturday nights? We're headed to a precious little wine bar for a birthday celebration. Then in the morning, I'm headed through Minneapolis to Milwaukee in the morning to work next week.

Look in the Radio directory on your computer. If you are a windows person, it will be under program files. That directory has a LOT of stuff in it, but in there is the text of everything you've written. Backing up is easy. Just backup the directory. But as long as salon is up, you have a copy at home and there.
Real Live Preacher
Preach is right, but I don't know if it's saved as text or as a rendered item. Check your "www" folder under the years and months (depending on how it was archived), should be in there.
As for me, I spent my Saturday night chillin' and illin' at home; the 8-year-old brought a bug home this past week and it was my turn with it. Ugh. I'm absolutely certain you had a better time!
Saturday Night: OLYMPICS! I love the Olympics, being a half-a-Greek. Can't help myself. We planted ourselves on the couch like veggies and ate ice cream and loved the big show... one of the few genuine ways our world unites itself voluntarily. Very cool.
The birthday celebration (one of Mrs. Perils' climbing buddies) was fun, despite the "preciousness" of wine that started at $30/bottle and moved up fast. Afterward, we walked to a cupcake bar (you start to get the feeling that everything in Seattle is a la carte?) called Cupcake Royale. I had me one with a half an inch of gooey frosting on top, and a double espresso.
Haven't seen any Olympics yet, but was amused by the travails of one of our local sportswriters who had been assigned to go to Turin months ago, bought the plane tickets, then on short notice had to also cover the Super Bowl in Detroit. He had to fly back to Seattle from Detroit Sunday night in order to catch his flight to Turin Monday at noon. His wife met him at SeaTac with a suitcase of fresh clothes.
I see the text of the posts now - it's in www\backups\posts\yyyy, and it's an xml document.
I keep a copy of my favorite posts on my hard drive in Word. That way, I always have my good stuff. It's my non-geek way of dealing with these things.
